Designed for finesse games, the Aldebaran BFS combines a lightweight magnesium frame with a specialized braking system to tackle any Bait Finesse System (BFS) technique. The Aldebaran BFS incorporates Shimano's Finesse Tune Brake (FTB) system to reduce the weight of the spool by moving the braking unit from the spool to the side plate. As a result, the spool requires minimal force to turn, enabling anglers to cast light tackle efficiently. Unlike traditional magnetic brake systems which maintain the same resistance on the spool throughout the cast, Shimano's FTB system harnesses the centrifugal force of the cast and the magnetic brakes automatically adjust to slow the spool only when braking is required. Fully adjustable, the FTB can be set with the external knob or by adding or removing individual magnets as required. The Aldebaran BFS further enhances casting performance by using a MagnumLite (MGL) Spool III coil which reduces start-up inertia for unrivalled control and precision. FTB: Shimano has developed the Finesse Tune Brake (FTB) to achieve unrivalled casting performance for light lures by eliminating the braking unit from the spool. This revolutionary design further reduces weight compared to traditional spool-carrying designs that keep the braking unit attached. Thanks to technological advances, Shimano's new FTB braking system takes advantage of the centrifugal force of the angler's casting motion to apply varying amounts of magnetic braking directly to the spool at various points during the cast, to provide unrivalled control - especially when fishing with light lures. Unlike traditional magnetic braking systems found in baitcasting reels which apply equal force throughout the cast - and ultimately limit casting distance - the placement of magnets in the FTB allows the magnetic brakes to apply frictionless resistance when required and reduce braking when not. To achieve optimum spool speed during casting, the centrifugal force resulting from increased spool speed pushes the FTB magnets outwards, closer to the spool, for better control, while minimizing braking at the start of casting, when the spool needs less control. What's more, anglers can adjust the Finesse Tune Brake by adding or removing easily identifiable magnetic brakes as needed, or by using the external dial to facilitate quick adjustments on the fly. MGL Spool III: The MGL III spool seeks to reduce inertia and features a narrow shape with a width of 19 mm that reduces inertia by around 15% compared to the second-generation MGL spool with a width of 22 mm. But even with a reduced width, the MGL Spool III maintains line capacity with an outer diameter of 34 mm. The advantage of the MGL Spool III: unrivalled casting performance. e-Exciting Drag Sound: Exciting Drag Sound technology provides a pulling sound on a baitcasting reel without the need for a rattle or clicker. The body's rigidity and shock resistance virtually eliminate flexing of the reel body when fishing.
