LUC’S CHOICES FOR DROPSHOT WALLEYE FISHING

The Drop Shot is my go-to technique when walleye fishing gets tough. It’s an extremely effective finesse presentation designed to trigger bites even during slower fishing conditions. The setup typically uses a Finesse Wide Gap or Drop Shot hook tied with a Palomar knot, paired with a bell sinker positioned 12 to 24 inches below. A wide variety of soft baits can be used with this technique.

The key to success is maintaining constant bottom contact while keeping your line tight, and adjusting your sinker weight according to current and depth. Rod power and action are also essential, allowing you to better detect subtle bites and maintain precise control near the bottom.
